(Berlin - May 25, 2007) Britain's largest freight railway company, English Welsh & Scottish Railway Holdings Limited (EWS), and Deutsche Bahn AG announced today that they are engaged in talks on strengthening the European rail freight transportation network.

 

The two companies plan to intensify their business relationship. The discussions extend over the full spectrum, ranging from joint projects to the acquisition of shares in EWS by DB.

 

Rail freight transportation is becoming an increasingly significant factor in coping with growing transportation flows. DB and EWS are examining how they can jointly create a better range of services for their customers in a European network.
