Recently, sustainability is one of the most important issues all over the world and the origins of energy are switching from fossil fuels to new resources, such as solar, wind power and others. It is said that wind power energy is one of the most efficient ways to produce electricity.

DB Schenker has been handling the logistics business of the major global wind power system provider Vestas Wind Systems A/S from Denmark, especially in the U.S. and China, where the demand for renewable energy is increasing. Here in Japan, Schenker-Seino is also supporting the supply chain of Vestas Wind Technology Japan.

Vestas' products, wind power systems, are quite huge and heavy. Wind towers can be more than 60 meters in height and the blades can be 35 meters long. Therefore, these systems require special storage areas and equipment to handle exceptionally heavy items.

We, Schenker-Seino, are handling the warehousing, domestic distribution and RMA (return merchandise authorization) of parts for Vestas' wind power generators, such as nacelles, gearboxes, etc. Our IT-applications help Vestas to better control the supply chain and to provide visibility of inventory, which results in the reduction of old and/or excess stock, shorter transit times, and also cost reductions.
